Week 1, Day 2

We had another great lesson today!  The girls were very enthused and energetic.  We started our meeting by playing the "Name Game".  We went around the circle, each girl said their name and then shared a move with us.  What a fun and creative group we have, they all had great ideas!  After going through the circle we called out random names, and they all remembered the moves that went with each name.  I think we all offcially know each other now!

After the name game we reviewed our team rules, and the story of Mermaidia.  The girls really like to re-tell the story, and it's interesting to hear how the story morphs into their own visions.

Up next...time to run!  The girls ran a minimum of 4 laps today...a few girls even did extra laps!  Wow, I hope the coaches can keep up with them on race day.

Our next activity was called "Screamin' Fears".  The coaches called out phrases like "I love chocolate", or "I'm afraid I'll be the slowest runner"...if any of the girls agreed with our statement they did a sprint to a tree and back.  The girls loved this game...we could have played for the entire hour.  I don't think they even realized they were running.  The point of the game was to make the girls aware that it is ok to have fears, and that all of us have different worries, and shouldn't be afraid to share them with others.  They had a blast coming up with their own fears to run about.

To complete our meeting, we did another journal activity.  The girls drew two self portraits - one to represent how Siren would view them, and one how Mermaidia would.  Can you guess which drawing is your daughter's?

See you all Sunday!
